Producing a Potbelly Commercial in Chicago with Chamber Media

In January I had the opportunity to travel to Chicago with Chamber Media to help produce a commercial campaign for Potbelly. The client loved the character and energy of their Chicago locations, so a few of us made the trip from Utah to bring the project to life on location.

As the producer, a lot of my work happened before we ever stepped on set. I was responsible for hiring crew, coordinating travel, booking talent, building call sheets, organizing crafty and meals, and helping keep all the moving pieces on track. By the time production began, there had already been weeks of planning behind the scenes.

One of the best parts of the project was getting to work with our Chicago crew in person. When you're traveling for production, having a solid local team makes all the difference. Everyone was incredibly professional, collaborative, and easy to work with, which helped make the long days run smoothly.

I also loved getting to watch our food stylist work throughout the shoot. She has spent years in the industry and brought so much knowledge and experience to set. It's always fascinating to see how much thought goes into making food look as good on camera as it does in real life. Every sandwich, ingredient, and detail was carefully considered, and watching that process unfold was one of my favorite parts of the production.

What I love most about producing is getting to help bring everything together. I enjoy solving problems, organizing the moving pieces, and creating an environment where talented people can focus on what they do best. There is something really rewarding about watching a group of creatives come together and seeing everyone's work contribute to the final product.

This project was a great reminder of why I love production. Great clients, a fantastic crew, an iconic Chicago backdrop, and the opportunity to work alongside talented people doing what they love.
